This paper gives a comprehensive analysis of the Giant Magentoimpedance (GMI) sensor performance with negative feedback. We present a sensor based on a nearly zero magnetostrictive Co-rich microwire that includes an optimized GMI sensing device to detect a magnetic field and to produce a dc output voltage proportional to the sensed magnetic field. The performance of the sensor negative feedback was carefully studied, i.e., sensitivity of the field detection with and without feedback, offset control, and dependence of the output voltage on the sensor gain function. An optimum linear response is obtained up to maximum dc applied magnetic fields of 6 Oe with a sensor sensitivity of 0.1 V/Oe.
