Desarrollo y validación en campo de un sistema de nanosensores de bajo consumo y bajo coste para la monitorización en tiempo real de la calidad del aire ambiente

 

NanoSen-AQM addresses the challenge of monitoring ambient air pollution and reporting air quality to the public in real time in a sustainable way. The objective is to develop an electronic system based on low-cost, low-power sensors and to validate the system at different locations in the Sudoe territory against certified air pollutant analysers. The electronic system uses nanotechnology- and microelectronics-based gas sensors, machine learning techniques to discriminate and quantify toxic gases in the air, and cloud computing technologies to manage and present air quality data. Small, lightweight and easy to use, the system is easily integrated into stations, mobile units and personal air pollution measurement devices and therefore suitable for use in sensor networks. These provide high spatial and temporal resolution data to validate predictive air quality models. The main products are high-performance nanosensors for detecting toxic gases in the air; multi-sensor systems adaptable to a wide variety of platforms for air quality monitoring; and a cloud-based system for monitoring and predicting air quality and for informing and raising public awareness of air quality.

The products benefit companies that manufacture instrumentation for measuring air pollution and companies providing high added-value environmental services, which facilitate decision-making by the competent bodies in the management of air quality, emission control and the protection of sectors affected by air pollution. NanoSen-AQM involves universities, R&D centres, SMEs and public administrations from Spain, France and Portugal. The transnational nature of the partnership allows the value chain to be covered and the transboundary nature of air pollution to be addressed.

 

PROTOTIPO

 

Nanosensores (CSIC) basados en nanofibras de óxido de estaño (SnO2 NF) dopadas con grafeno (RGO: óxido de grafeno reducido, GNPL: nanoplaquetas de grafeno) y con nanopartículas de platino (Pt NP)

 

EXPERIENCIA PILOTO

 

Equipos electrónicos con nanosensores del CSIC (FMXCS) y del CNRS (FMXCN) y con sensores comerciales (FMXCO), con los que se midió la concentración de O3, NO2 y CO en el Parque Nacional de Monfragüe en el verano de 2021. Los equipos se instalaron en la estación ES1616A de la red de calidad del aire de la Junta de Extremadura

Curso Online Masivo y Abierto (MOOC)

El curso aborda la problemática de la vigilancia de la calidad del aire, revisando las estrategias actuales utilizadas por los organismos competentes en la materia, así como la utilización de novedosos equipos y sistemas basados en la utilización de sensores de bajo coste complementados con sistemas de instrumentación y procesado de datos en la nube.
