Ramonet Marqués, Fernando

Materials Characterization by Non Destructive Evaluation (G-CARMA)
Contratado - Proyecto de Investigación

Fernando holds a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Universidad de Sonora (México), a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain), and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Technische Universität Wien (Austria). During his PhD, he applied his multidisciplinary skills and knowledge to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for the Circular Bioeconomy, focusing on optimizing bioreactor designs. This involved valorizing agro-industrial waste and utilizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to upscale and optimize bioreactors. He has published multiple papers and presented his findings at international conferences on these topics. He was awarded the Special Mention of the biennial award "Tengo Un Proyecto de END" in 2021 by the Spanish Association of Non-Destructive Testing (AEND) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) for his work in developing an automatic system for ultrasonic tomographic inspection for the characterization of construction materials. Additionally, he is certified (ASNT) in the five main Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques at level II (UT, VT, PT, MT) and level I (RT). Currently at ITEFI, his research focuses on the development of robotic sonic inspection systems, the adaptation of sensory inspection and monitoring systems to UAVs, and CFD modeling for UAV stability during NDT inspections.
