Ultrasound technology for meningitis screening

We have developed quantitative ultrasound imaging techniques to determine the cellular concentration of leukocytes in the cerebrospinal fluid in in vitro samples. The in vivo study, already underway, is our next challenge.

Phantoms and tissue mimics for biomedical applications

We develop mimics of epithelial tissues, brain, fibro-glandular tissues, mammary tumors, etc. These mimics are used for medical training and for fine-tunning and calibration of ultrasound devices.

Espectómetro de ultrasonidos para caracterizar líquidos

 

Ultrasonic spectroscopy measurement techniques to characterize liquids

Together with UNESP (Brazil), we have designed and manufactured a spectrometer (10-80MHz) for the accurate measurement of the propagation velocity and the attenuation of ultrasound in liquids and gels as a function of temperature. This measurement provides relevant information to understand the mechanical behaviour of these materials.
