Our society is continuously demanding more and more intelligent devices, along with network infrastructures and distributed services that make our daily lives more comfortably. However, the frantic adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies has led to widespread implementations without a deep analysis about security matters.
It can be said that the Next-Generation Internet of Things (NG-IoT), powered by the flexibility, wide range of data-rates, support of heterogeneity, ultralow latency, intelligence and massive user capacities delivered by 5G and 6G networks, will be the main driver for economic growth and human development for the next decades. Among others, an important impact of 5G/6G and the NG-IoT is that these technologies will allow the user to use sensors and mobile devices more effectively and efficiently, according to their needs and the characteristics of the operating environment.

The QURSA project addresses the design and proof of concept of an architecture and algorithms for quantum key distribution (QKD) over complex networks, and their integration with the classical Internet core and distribution infrastructures by means of an improved post-processing layer.

Cyberspace plays nowadays a key role in modern societies and economies, and its protection is a pivotal challenge in national security strategies. Over the last decade, various technological developments have contributed to make our dependency on cyberspace even greater, including the generation and processing of massive amounts of data, the influence of social networks over all activities of our daily lives, or the trend to connect to Internet virtually every realworld device.

The basic idea of the New Rules for assessing Mathematical Competencies (RULES_MATH) project is to develop assessment standards for a competencies- based teaching-learning system for mathematics in engineering education, operating on a transnational level.

This project aims at strengthening our capabilities to prevent, detect, and respond to cyberattacks by developing techniques that improve situational awareness and cater for a dynamic threat management. To do so, we propose an interdisciplinary research program that tackles three important challenges in cybersecurity research.
