ARGUS draws on the current challenges in monitoring remote built heritage assets and the current research focus on preventive preservation, and envisions the development of: (a) a novel built heritage digital twin model to support multi-scale/modal data; (b) an advanced digitisation strategy to support the digital twin model; (c) a portable measurements system for non-descructive physical and chemical monitoring based on miniaturised sensors, and sensor composites integration, comprising of ground and aereal components; (d) AI-enabled methods for the modeling and identification (reverse eng
El proyecto de investigación propuesto está orientado a la investigación, centrado en la prioridad temática Mundo Digital, industria, espacio y defensa, más concretamente en el tema de la robótica y la inteligencia artificial aplicadas al patrimonio cultural.
The proposal mainly aims to reflect on the role that robotics and automation can assume in the context of heritage assessment and conservation. More specifically, the consortium will explore the possibility of upgrading current non-destructive techniques (NDT) and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) systems to improve their capabilities for structural diagnosis based on automation and robotics.
2022
Preservation of heritage buildings requires deep knowledge of architectural and archaeological masonry heritage. The EU-funded DocumeNDT project will develop a new approach to evaluate, record and present buildings and archaeological ruins.
2020
New project to develop an innovative approach to present buildings and archaelogical ruins. Case Study: Museu Arqueológico do Carmo.

In the present project a study will be carried out to facilitate the generation of ultrasonic images of pieces of complex geometry through the use of industrial robots.
Estimation of the porosity in ice of astrophysical interest by means of ultrasonic techniques. IceUS
Ice porosity is intimately linked to the history of formation and evolution of the ice. A high porosity of water ice allows mixing with other molecules, permitting chemical reactions in the ice bulk and on its surface. Porosity also influences the spectroscopic infrared observations of ices in space. One of the major achievements of the ESA-Rosetta mission was the precise measurement of the porosity in the nucleus of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Energy refurbishment of existing building stock is one of the main objectives of EU’s Horizon 2020 program. Monitoring of energy efficiency and habitable conditions have been developed in order to characterize existing buildings and estimate their improvement potential, since rehabilitation operations are complex and have a great impact on the environment and habitability conditions. Design criteria are integrated with requirements of air quality, thermal comfort or noise protection, with decisions that directly affect comfort and occupants health conditions.
